Yes, but the value now comes mainly from using the power yourself. New systems since 2024 no longer get annual netting: surplus is sold to your supplier at the contract price and the network charge applies to all energy you draw from the grid. That makes correct sizing important, and often a battery that moves daytime surplus into the evening.
Grants for households are run by Borzen (call JP-SO-02): up to €250 per kW without a battery (max. 25% of eligible costs) or up to €675 per kW with a battery (max. 40%), with at least 0.7 kWh of storage per kW. You apply after installation at novasamooskrba.borzen.si. Eko sklad offers a low-interest loan. Check that the call is still open before ordering.
In Slovenia, 1 kWp on a south-facing roof produces roughly 1,100–1,340 kWh a year (PVGIS data), depending on location. A household using 5,000 kWh therefore usually needs around 4–4.5 kWp, or 9–10 panels. Without net metering, oversizing does not pay — the calculator sizes the system for your town, roof and use.
Typical 2026 turnkey prices including VAT are roughly €8,800–11,300 for 5 kWp and €15,000–16,900 for 10 kWp. The price per kWp falls with size. A battery, a complex roof or a connection upgrade raise the price; the subsidy lowers it.
Not necessarily, but it often pays. Without a battery a household uses roughly a third of its production directly; with one, considerably more. Because the subsidy with a battery is much higher (€675 instead of €250 per kW), the price gap is smaller than it looks. The calculator compares both options side by side.
